Undoubtedly true.  I think the source of these high angle signals is what's
worth investigating.  My hypothesis is that most of them are the high angle,
horizontally polarized emissions of the transmit loop antenna.  If so, a
good vertical antenna at a similar distance ought to show less signal
variation on the receive loop than a transmit loop does...perhaps almost as
little variation as the daytime N-S loop vs. vertical traces are showing.
