75 Black Locust, 25 Baker Cypress. Not sure what I'll get this year,
probably more of the same. The locust grow 12-18" a month and make a good
wind break, the Cypress are evergreens, they make a good year 'round visual
barrier. I started to water them by hand with 300' of that heavy 1" red
industrial washer hose, but I got tired of dragging that through the
sagebrush after the first month. I put in a drip system but the bunnies are
chewing it up. I will bury PVC come spring. I figure I will need between
2,500 and 3,000 trees. I almost forgot, my wife and daughter also planted
about 250 maple seeds in front of the house, I hope those come up. I got
these because they are good to -30 degrees, survive drought and can be
somewhat controlled in height. I would be happy with 25-35' trees so my
antennas and such can look out over them. The Locust are good for hammocks,
but lousy to hang antennas from.
