Just saw this on the news a few minutes ago.
Yesterday, the Portland (Maine) airport was closed for 3 hours, no one
allowed into or out of the terminal, all incoming flights diverted and all
flights outgoing were brought back to the terminal building.
The cause (offending item) was shown on tv, complete with the police
assigned evidence tag.
Police were called to investigate and found an 'electric flute' which was
in a piece of carry on baggage. I guess the pvc pipe constructed to protect
the fragile instrument was suspicious.
