If a 30 second (or whatever) screen seems to go "deaf," it is instructive to
go to a wider BW (3 sec is a good idea) and see what's going on. You may
find a ragged noise trace that's wandering through the DSP BW.  I frequently
see vertical stripes on a narrow Argo screen under such conditions.

For those of us on the east coast, sidebands from the LWBC stations can wipe
copy out at the narrower BW's without leaving a clear indication of what's
going on. I have seen Steve's "Grabulator" go noticeably quieter at 10 PM
EST when Europe 1 fires up the audio on 183 kHz.
