Hi Eric,

QSL cards from aeronautical BCNs are a thing of the past (unfortunately).
Prior to 9/11, I would typically get responses from about 50% of the airports
that I wrote to, after enclosing $1.00, a detailed letter about who I was and
why I was listening to beacons and writing to them, a postcard of Chicago, and
a preprepared QSL card that they simply had to initial and send back to me in
a SASE. Of the 40% who replied, I received many interesting items including
caps, shirts, photos, invitations for coffee, etc. So it was FUN to keep the
letters going out. Received over 600 QSLs in ths way. After 9/11, my success
rate went down to about 10% or so. Of those who responded, most wrote back to
say that they had concerns about anyone asking questions about their
communication equipment. So, pretty much have stopped chasing QSLs for LF BCNs.
However, if I make a GREAT catch, I still sit down and put together a package to
send them just in case.....

Hope this helps.
