Sorry I wasn't able to get on with you guys last night. I was watching the
little guy while mommy was out with her family. This normal CW stuff can
take place other days if you guys like. I think all I have to do is plug in
the exciter to the laptop's serial port and type away in the CW program to
get her to send some hand keying.

Subject: [Lowfer] Conditions last night

Band conditions were not quite as good as they were the previous night. All
eight of the watering hole gang popped up at one time or another: IP, WEOH,
UWL, YK, VD, W, NC and TAG. However, TAG showed up only during the evening
while still in sine-wave mode, and I had to guess at "IP". Lewis' signals
were very strong at times but covered by WEOH. NC had the most consistent
skywave signal -- solid QRSS signals and visible Hellschreiber from the time
he turned on his beacon until the morning fade-out at 1230Z.

XDW showed up briefly at about 0500 UTC with one ragged ID and part of
another. Nothing definite after that. Nice signal from VE3OT in the evening,
before he went into listening mode.

Skywave conditions were a little too good during the straight-key sked with
RM. Noise levels were S5, so we hung it up after exchanging call signs and
signal reports. New Year's resolution: We should do the next straight key
night in the daytime...
