[Lowfer] Medfer CT heard in Vancouver...

Hey Dale

Thanks for the congrats on CT.

I haven't seen LowFER NW yet. I just finished a LARGE loop to tune down
there... I may try this weekend when I move the LARGE loop to the
garage. It's a 20turn 6' diameter monster. I need to get some remote
tuning capability setup first. The same with the 160m loop. I seem to
be lucking out as the noise levels here are low.

The Hifer thing baffles me... Must be the angle of radiation on the
dipole. Perhaps you are in a null and my angle of radiation is to low?
I will be getting a 1/4 wave up soon. It will be < 5m off the ground and
should have a fairly low angle of radiation but also some high stuff
that should favour you. You are sitting on an unfavourable side of the
dipole and considering the wires and other metal in its vicinity its
pattern is likely distorted. Interesting how it gets out to the east
OK... I did get a report from TN. The dipole has worked Ontario as well
as the Caribbean. It is only 10' off the ground...

The BeFER is coming along. I have a dipole up and tuned and presently
working on the transmitter. It's a PIC controlled AD8932 based VFO with
a crystal osc. to bring me out on the higher HF bands. It'll do DFCW,
PSK, QRSS, etc... There is stuff down there(6.777MHz), lots of activity
during the day it seems so picking a freq may be the hard part... I
guess I could divide up the Hifer and get something on for tomorrow? It
won't be nice :) I'll let you know...

Scott
