How about a software receiver with Lyle's simple RX front end and a homebrew
active whip? It doesn't get any cheaper than that.

Looking forward to seeing XFX coming on Eric -

I dont know about ice detuning loops - just dug out the 10ft diameter one,
and it was 3 foot below the snow surface. The nice moving people says the RX
loop can be transported "whole" - it weighs 60 + pounds but has survived
countless Moose rubbings and the clawings of other toothed types. Still no
confirmed new QTH in W5- cant find one with just the right sized
trees/pond! (or lack of them)

Ive got a dose of nasty dose of " LACKOFLFRECEIVERITUS"

Laurence
