Dale

Thanks for the report! I'm truly amazed at the signals ability to get out
considering the lack of antenna... It's all in the match I guess... The local
ground wave signal can be heard on my portable sony for about 5km from the
beacons qth without computer aid.

I forgot to turn on the HiFer so I'll leave the Medfer on this week... Too
many coils to remove... The BeFer will be on tomorrow for those looking on my
80m ZEPP...

The loading coil is ~52 turns of #14 AWG solid core wire on a 4" dia x 6" long
plastic container. The system was brought to resonance with a smaller coil
wound on a ferrite bar in series with the larger coil. A 4:1 matching
transformer was also used wound in a bifilar configuration. The SWR obtained
was pretty close to 1:1. I also added a #2 AWG drop 5m to the ground to
attach to a 5' copper pipe driven into the ground. I figure that if the
antenna is alittle bigger then regs. state I'll drop the power and try to
comply with the field str. requirements under Canadian regs... I figure 4mW
can't harm anyone :)

Now to figure out how to accurately measure field strenght...

What was the freq you found me on? The one reported?

Regards,

Scott, VE7TIL
