	Maybe there's more stuff around the LA area because there are a lot of
"aerospace" outfits which regularly dump old stuff for tax reasons. 
Also there are more guys who've bought, borrowed, scrounged, or stolen
stuff and decide to get  rid of it.  C&H surplus here in Pasadena used
to be vast quantities of the stuff and dump the less cosmetic pieces in
their retail store.  They always want too much to start but can usually
be bargained down a lot depending on what guys happen to be clerking at
the time.
