>Bill, what LRC meter do you have,,, availability, cost ??
Bob, this is a B and K 875B. I bought it for about $125 three years ago when
it was sold by a different company. I've noticed the price in Newark
skyrocket since then. Last year $198; this year $242! I see that Mouser
sells a B and K 615-875B for $189 which has the same ranges. Don't know why
the prices are so high. I don't think we are into anything high-tech, here,
except maybe there's a microprocessor inside that has become scarce.
There used to be kit available for about $100 and some on the guys bought
this including Mike R. Unfortunately this meter doesn't have a 1/Q reading
(as mine does) which I find to be helpfull in getting a rough idea on what
the Q of inductors and capacitors will be like at 185k. This feature even
shows these tiny ceramics to be superior to mica at the 1kHz measurement
frequency.
