I suspect the solder paste I use for soldering pipes would be considered
"acid flux'. I've noticed that, while pipes assembled with this paste don't
corrode inside, they do corrode in an outside environment. That's probably
enhanced by the acid rain. One of the problems with soldering not-so-new
stranded wire is that you really need a strong acid to get the wire clean
enough to make a good joint. Oh well, this experimental stuff isn't supposed
to last forever. We're supposed to keep trying new antenna ideas.
