Hmmmm ... I have access to some switching supplies with good sized toroids 
in 'em.  Thought about scavanging a couple of these -- how can I find out 
anything about its (the toroid's) properties?  U, etc?

Yeah -- you said it.  I'm looking at that now.  The first few calculations 
convinced me to go with less pitch and smaller wire.  I can see right now 
it's going to be a balancing act ...

I didn't expect the grant to come through so quickly and I'm behind the 
construction curve ...
