Actually Gary if you check the specs you will find the SA612 is not quite as 
good as the SA602. I agree that either makes a fine mixer IF there is a 
tuned circuit ahead of it and I use two of them in my SVM design. I never 
have had much luck, however, using the oscillator section (as is done in the 
Jackson kit). Small Vcc changes and temp changes effect to output freq. Most 
of the time I inject the signal from a FET based LO. I have thoroughly 
tested the external LO approach and find varying the Vcc from 7v to 5v has 
virtually no effect on the performance. - even in a QRSS120 application. 
Suggest this mod to the Jackson kit.
