Under the heading of No Free Lunches, yes it is for many applications. Just
be sure to protect it from "out of band" strong signals or you will hear
signals that only exsist inside your receiver/converter<G>. Low power
consumption, good sensitivity, reasonably clean oscillator make it a good
choice for many applications. I _think_ it is the SA612 that is a bit
better part and recommended for new designs. Same Gilbert Cell approach and
pinout (?) but made with a different IC process that holds parameters closer
to nominal, providing better uniformity and yields.
