Yes, I too, noted this seemingly heretical note. Actually "enhanced"
the signal, hmm? Has Larry done further emperical study to verify the
existence of this "natural" amplifier, as in a cleared area? Might make
for an interesting writeup for The Lowdiown.

Yes, its triangular in form with bottom leg close to and parallel to
ground. My take is it's a loaded short loop of 1 or sometimes 2 turns
and plane-directional.

certainly agree with this theme if we are talking about clearance from

antennas or metalic objects equal or higher above ground than the
probe. In
the woods or in trees I find this rule does not apply.

because of this property, able to induce a voltage into a nearby probe,
whereas surounding metal structures with near zero-K properties cannot
and further act as a signal shield instead.
