Just solder it. Use aluminum solder, no more difficult than soldering
copper, brass, cast iron, pot metal or stainless.  Check out your local
welding shop for supplies.

Aluminum SHAFT???  I've never seen that.  Most of the shafts are plated
brass or steel and you can solder to those.  If it's really aluminum I
would think you could either drill and tap it or else make a small clamp
a la a cable clamp.  What a pain!
