[Lowfer] 1710 KHz monitoring.

Many years ago, around 1994 I monitored 1710 KHz whenever I could. I heard
many things, very interesting atmospherics, a few phones, odd data, buzzing
from crosswalk signs... One of the strangest things I heard was what
sounded like a phone ringing. Not the pulse or buzz you would normally hear
as a telephone base sends the ring command to a handset, but a very clear
and defined electronic ringing sound as if there was an open microphone
somewhere. It came in throught the background noise loud and clear, some
would call it "full quieting". I first heard this around Pasadena/Altadena
California in the late fall/early winter. I heard a second time within a
month or so while driving around San Pedro, California. The same crystal
clear ring, right out of the noise. I monitored for a few more months and
never heard it again. I am thinking of setting a dedicated receive system
on this frequency.
Has anyone else monitored 1710 KHz on a regular basis? What have you heard
in the way of odd signals, no phones or wireless microphones (very common in
the 70's and 80's)? Is anyone using Argo or a similar program on this
frequency on a constant or near constant basis?
