Veeeerrrrrrrry funny ! actually I did trip, but on all the wire from the
loop, lying in the back yard. I dropped the 50x50 loop that has been
working well all Summer, laying across the branches of the trees.
I knew that last Winter, the inverted L worked much better - but died
rapidly when the leaves popped out.
I now have the inverted L - with a new 3.5 mH coil/variometer all hooked up
and tried it for a few days. No reports at all. Antenna current 0.5A at the
top of the coil.
Unfortunately, a few branches have grown since last December -duh- and I
just couldn't clear all the branches with the three top loading wires, so
they were all touching trees/branches. And therein lies the problem.
As Bill said - the sap-sucking branches were at work on my antenna, and were
very effective.
So I have been off the air this week - until I do some weaving and twisting
through my trees, and those of my friendly neighbor.

But - the benefit - I can now listen and see all the great stuff
happening.... I do seem to enjoy this more than "beaconing", at least for
now.
