Dale, others,
Don't panic, lots of time left in for the season. I also have a
Burhan's setup (10-foot square loop, 4 feet off gnd) and used it last
season. But the interesting part was I also had a 20-turn, 6-foot
pentagon shaped loop, both out in the back yard and at relatively the
same heights and manually rotatable. The multi loop had a pre-amp at the
rx, whereas the Burhan's was at the loop. I would alternate them when
long listening hours permitted in A-B fashion.
What I found and reported in many daily reports on this list was that
at times the same sigs were stronger on one but weaker on the other or
not visible on ARGO, but many times they were equal. Of course this
process was delayed through 30-sec screens and the time they take and my
memory.
I recommend having an A-B setup when empirically testing (my usual
means) pre-amps or antennas, lacking other lab equipment.
