Didn't see any replies on the list.  A standard for WPM is to take the word
PARIS, count the dots and dashes AND the inter-character spaces, converting
to "elements" or dot length/time, e.g. P is 1+1+3+1+3+1+1 for
di-dah-dah-dit.  What I don't remember is the length of inter-character
spaces.  3? like a dash or 2?  And sometimes the QRS formats will make
dashes 2 dot lengths instead of 3 to help get data thru quicker.  But
however you figure it, it is more like WPH than WPM when doing QRS3<G>
