Yes the K9AY has a 19dB amp in the control box,
Lately I have been using DGPS beacons to find the correct heading for
the K9AY.
Using the following stations:
Acushnet, MA 306 kHZ 344 Miles Bearing 57 degs for the
guys up north.
Hawk Run, Pa 291 kHZ 153 Miles Bearing 325 degs for
Mitch and Laurence, LEK, BRO
Kansas City, MO 305 kHZ 967 Miles Bearing 275 degs for
Beacons West.
I can hear and decode these stations so it is fairly easy to direct the
K9AY toward them.
The pattern of the K9AY is broad enough that I don't have to be exact.
