They are all the way to about 40 degrees south in Minnesota with huge waves
of bright white light. I haven't seen any other colors yet but and getting
the Natural Radio gear out now to have a listen and look again. Just
beautiful tonight. I bet VHF CW is fun right now.

Beautiful display well south of Atlanta tonight. Best viewing was from a
little before 8 PM to after 8:30 Eastern, with additional intermittent
activity to about 9:30. The lights first appeared as blurry glows of
greenish-white that waxed and waned in specific regions less than 10 degrees
above the horizon in the north-northwest, and a ray of dim red that extended
as high as Polaris and a little farther. Later, these were joined by a band
of greenish-white in the northeast, at almost 20 degrees above the horizon.
At maximum brightness, that arc and the blobs in the north-northwest took on
a ribbon appearance, almost curtain-like, and seemed to be part of a larger
near-continuous arc.

This may all be old hat to denizens of the Frozen North, but it's pretty
amazing to a naturalized Georgian, who had only encountered Northern Lights
twice in the first half of his life up in Kansas, and never at all down here
until this year. Now, twice in less than a month! Wow.
