Guess it depends on the sampling rate, doesn't it? Trying to generate a 5
kHz tone with an 8 kHz sampling rate shouldn't produce a pretty signal.
Since the sampling rate is unknown in some of these programs, that could be
an issue.

I'm personally happier with the phasing approach, and nice 800 Hz tones.
