Greetings

The past geomag and massive dump of nasties into the D layer means that LF,
MF and HF comms are really pretty poor at the moment up here in Alaska, and
its likely to be a few more days before things improve (just in time for the
CME producing areas to rotate back into view!) The drive in to work this
morning produced a pretty dead band from 9Mhz and above. No sigs on any ham
band I could hear.

We are getting slight daytime enhancement of a few dBs on LF beacons out to
500 miles but nighttime is a washout with the D layer still attenuating a
lot. Lot of constructive/destructive multipath at times and stations which
are within 200 miles on ground wave dissapear or dogbone.

DCF39 Magdeburg on 138.83 is visible at the moment and increased in strength
quickly @1600Z over 20 mins. The enhancement was some 12dB due to an M and
continuing C class flare thickening up the D layer even more so the bottom
became a bit of a reflector - this is a 7200Km path which had some daylight
on it even though it was dark here in Anchorage.

Ive have windows open for XFX and NA and also a seperate .system for 185Khz
but youll understand why Im not seeing much up here at the moment between
tx characters.

The beacon will be going off w/c 24th November when the tower is taken down
- lts hope we get better 4000+Kms conditions during the ensuing period.

Its due to dump 10 inches of snow here this evening.

Have a nice day 'yall
