Hey Eric & everyone else,

Bill called tonight and I explained everything to him. It sounds like Carl
doesn't know the antenna limits for Part-15 in the 160-190kc band as he
several times told me the 1w input was more than sufficient to experiment on
LF. He did say at one time that there isn't enough difference with 1w
Part-15 input power compared to my asking for 1w ERP. Huh!!! Year right. I
didn't argue with the guy for hopes he would have just said OK at the end of
our conversation but that obviously didn't happen. He was totally against
granting anyone a license to experiment on the 136kc band. I never mentioned
anything about Amateur operating, just antenna experiments with comparing a
vertical to a loop in a heavy foliage property. Maybe if someone can see if
he really understands the antenna limits for Part-15 in the 160-190kc band,
that he might reconsider the guys who want to study antennas and or
propagation on one or two LF bands. I asked for a modest 300w TPO and 1w
ERP. There is a guy asking for 2kw TPO and 10w ERP right now. I see no
reason why the FCC cannot grant many Part-5 licenses to operate and or
experiment on LF as they know exactly what equipment and antennas as well as
our exact station location and have contact info ready to get a hold of an
operator in case the station has to cease operations immediately. It is not
like Amateur stations where who the heck really knows were the station is
located at let alone how to get immediate contact with the control operator.
Damn, does this make sense to you guys???

I think John is right about finding a shelf...this could all change by
next week.

I think Chris is right, too, in his estimation that it is just one
pin-head's opinion.  We need another pin-head's opinion.

What all was said, Mike?  Sure seems to be a sudden change of direction,
huh?
