Build a wood lattice tower and run your vertical wire up that. You should be
able to stand it upright 'cause it won't flex.

Subject: [Lowfer] new vertical
...and on a lighter note...
I'm considering raising a new vertical by next season. Improvements over
the current one would include:
* Farther from house
* Taller (42' instead of current 30')
* Larger cap hat (5 x 8' radials instead of current 4 x 4')
I only have the two of us for lifting. I got the 30' one in the air by
starting with it on the ground, picking up the capicitance hat end over my
head, and walking toward the base. My wife helped by pulling on one of
the guys.
To do this with a larger cap hat and taller mast I'll definitely need a
more rigid mast material. Getting the 30' of pvc in the air was like
raising a wet noodle.
I'm looking for suggestions. I saw Lyle's old temporary vertical made
with windsurfer masts. I have NO idea where I'd find anything like that
around here. I've never even _seen_ a windsurfer...well, except TV :)
But I absolutely cannot think of _any_ good ideas for this.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Eric, KD5UWL
