Thanks for the detailed report Peter, and it sounds like you never sleep ?
I was out on a ladder several times, hoping for additional current, and
a few raindrops kept interfering. We had very high winds, lots of branches
down, so probably the same weather that flipped your flat-top.
Just rewound the toroid, and picked up another 0.5 amps.
Still planning to drive around the area in a 5 mile circle and plot the
pattern so making up cables to power the Drake rcvr. Not very portable but
it does work on 12V dc.
