Yes, the turns will need to be spread if the length is shorter than the
design value. In fact, you may find that the inductance is still too high
when you stretch the coil to its design length,
So wouldnt the bigger the coil the more the taps ??
adding taps will allow for a larger adjustment
if the coil is oversized tapping it will allow for the proper
Ind ?? Just tap'er down. The only problem could be too touchy
adjustment . better a big loading coil in series with a somewhat smaller
variometer ??
