The sap is going up and the only antenna that I can get decent current in is
the loop. The vertical is absolutely terrible right now.
I've been working on car parts lately so I just switched over to the loop
and peaked the tuning a few days ago so I could have a presence on the band.
I have to get a bunch of car stuff done before I can go at the loop antenna
experiments again.
Those UK guys should install a big loop and see how it works over the rocks.
It might spank the verticals!!! Hi Hi...

Mike,
>Loops work in the trees when it is above freezing temps, verticals >don't.
Did you see the round of wet/dry soil discussion on the other reflector
today? Alex said that damp trees have a major effect on a vertical. I recall
you saying last Fall that you thought damp trees had an effect on your loop.
The fact that my test loop doesn't seem to be affected much by damp soil
tends to make me believe the trees could be at least part of the reason for
the drop in current after a rain. They could take many hours to dry out
after a rain - similar to the soil. More tests needed.
