That sounds like the size of my coil that Lyle built. Go for it. Add a few
extra turns so you don't have to solder on wire later if it takes a bit
more.

Just want to make sure this makes sense:  I came up with the following
figures for my coil using AWG-COIL.EXE, but I don't know if that program
is valid for a basket-weave style coil (this is probably a stupid
question).

>From AWG-COIL:

For length/diameter ratio = 0.45:1 and winding pitch = 2
Inductance =  2500 microhenries
Coil length = 10.19 inches or  258.8 millimeters
Coil diameter = 22.64 inches or  575.1 millimeters
Number of turns = 63
Wire length required = 373.7 feet or  113.9 meters


If you can confirm this is valid for a basket-weave style coil, I'll go
get started making sawdust!
