I know this is so off-topic, but I can't help it: I just have to let you
know that I am one of those technician ticket holders that probably most
of you general and above guys (especially from the old days when code was
required for ALL classes) despise.
But I must tell you that I did NOT run to the FM group. In fact, 2m does
not interest me at all. Now, I know this band is widely (and wildly)
popular, and I do not disparage those who like it. It's just not for me.
Oddly, HF phone DOES interest me.
But what I really like is CW ... it's so cool. You don't need nearly the
signal to copy CW as you do for phone.
Similarly, QRP interests me and I've already built a small QRP rig (the
Pixie-2) which I have 80 and 40 meter xtals and chokes for so far.
So I AM learning the code, I WILL pass the general exam, and I'll see you
guys on 137 kHz!
In the meantime, keep watching for me on 185 -- you'll see me at about
185.302 in just a few more days, I promise!!
Regards,
Eric
