I initially got the 9 MHz, 500 Hz filter. Along the way, Santa produced the
455 kHz, 250 Hz filter. I use them together for all of my slow-speed work.
For aural CW, I prefer the 500 Hz filter alone unless cndx are bad, but
that's a personal thing.
But I'm not at all convinced that I'm accomplishing a lot with the second IF
filter, given that the detection BW is a few Hz wide, and done in DSP. On
occasion, I have been able to keep the AGC from ramping up on a nearby
signal, or been able to run the RF gain higher with the AGC off. But in
reality, Argo (or whatever) probably doesn't care.
I think the 9 MHz, 500 Hz filter would be fine unless you spend time copying
weak aural CW signals by ear. Given that we may be doing a lot more of that
if 136 kHz becomes available, the narrow 2nd IF filter may be more useful
later on.
