Wow, Stewart, that tip hit the jack pot for me! At the Compaq site I
mined for my model and found FAQ5473, F10 Bios-Cmos Setup. For others so
in need, here's the URL:

http://web14.compaq.com/falco/detail.asp?FAQnum=FAQ5473

From it I downloaded the Setup file to a Web pc, not the Compac. The
file is 2.8MB. Now I need to get it to the other pc, but can't use a
floppy. %#@?

Thanks for all.

Hi Peter and all,

Many Compaq machines do not have the BIOS user interface in ROM.
On some, you need a setup floppy. On others, there is a special
tiny partition on the hard drive for it. However, I believe that
you can still use the setup floppy on those, in case the partition
is not configured properly.

When I last looked (about a year ago), the Compaq web site had the
files needed to make setup floppies freely available for download.
If applicable to your model, the tool to build the funny partition
should also be there.

73,

Stewart
