John,
Kudos on the experimental license! What power level (erp?) did you ask for? What modes? I'd like to do the same.

Subject: [Lowfer] Experimental Licenses

> Just to get a little summertime discussion going here:

I have applied for an experimental license for the 135.7 - 137.8 kHz and
166.0 - 166.5 kHz ranges. This is a solo license, with just my home
location
specified. Fifty bucks didn't seem outrageous, and the application process
is a lot simpler for a single applicant.

I know that Lawrence up in AK has received his license, and that an
earlier
one was granted in New York. Is anyone else considering this? The FCC was
not subtle in offering the opportunity for experimental licensees to use
these frequencies to generate experience with PLC interference.

My reading of the Part 5 rules is that there is no restriction on 2-way
communication between Experimental licensees. You do not appear to be
restricted to members of a group license. There is a prohibition against
communication with licensees of other services, such as amateur.

Thoughts? Rants & raves?
