[Lowfer] Argo Problem - Sound Card - II

Argo is just a stripped down version of Spectran I believe, Spectran has a
spectrum analyzer display and supports audio output so you can listen as
well. I've used it all winter and it worked fine. I have a Compaq Armada
1700, pII 233 I've tried reloading my sound card drivers, loading new ones,
flashing the bios but still can't get Argo to work on this machine. Argo
works fine on my old Cyrix 266 mmx, win 95 but that machine is noisy, the
laptop is sheilded really well and you don't get much interference from it.
I use a 7 foot shielded loop in the attic so am only 10 feet from the loop
when monitoring. Can still see BRO at 400 miles most of the time though even
with the Cyrix

Ahhh. Thanks Vern. Not certain but possibly you presented this info
before and I forgot about it, wanting to get Argo to go and I'm back at
it after a few weeks lull. Yes, I should give that a try -- if only for
a compare. Good thought.
Beyond that, there may be other similar situations that a FAQ for Argo
Apps would be useful. But is there one? I don't think so.
Some pointers to include are:
# Don't bother loading it on a 486 pc, the current versions need more
power. I have used b131 on a P-90 okay.
# If using with Win95, two supplemental DLL files are required and can
be placed in the Argo App folder:
OLEAUT32.DLL and MSVCRT.DLL (see the Argo site for the
OLEAUT32.ZIP downloadable file and open it into your Argo-named
folder.)
Others also have some?

Hello Peter, also have the same problem with Compaq Laptop and Argo.
The
sound card does not support the sampling rate used by Argo. Try
Spectran, it
works with my Compaq
Tks Vern
