No. What Eric was talking about was a home built pre-amp, likely from
the AMRAD site.
However there are commercial remote pre-amps like his available. One
company is

They offer pre-amps and LF converter too. Expect to pay about $150 for
a remote unit. I've heard they make good products, but haven't bought
anything. Essential in this type of operation, height above ground--away
from the usual noises and in the clear--is a must.
A further word on e-field probes, as it is sometimes ref'd to, it
should be mounted with its own ground plane, several wire spokes or
screening for proper downlead termination and functioning. This last
point was brought out in discussion some time back on this list.

Nice, Walt, I've heard of the 128A, though not in that "VTVM"
configuration. Must wonder why the previous owner would do such a mod.
