...from the Authorized Biography of John Davis, by John Andrews, Nonesuch
Publishers, 2003:

The public TV reporter lifted her field glasses and surveyed the hillside
below. In the gathering darkness she could barely follow the shadowy form of
the elusive white tiger as he skirted the edge of the clearing. Suddenly,
the animal froze. Suddenly, the reporter froze. Both had just spotted a man
on a motorcycle tearing across the clearing while wire unspooled from a reel
mounted on the rear of the bike. He was obviously trying to string a wire
from one tree to another on opposite sides of the glen. The reporter said to
her cameraman, "Why would any sane person do that? There may be a story
here!" The tiger said, "Why would any sane person do that? There may be a
lunch here!"

Compelled by the lure of the story, the reporter and her cameraman swiftly
descended the slope. The tiger was now aware that he had a choice, the
reporter and the cameraman, or the Lowfer and the Harley. Starting from the
greater distance, he stretched into a loping gait.

It really only took seconds for the whole drama to unfold. While the reader
should be spared the gory details of what followed, the author feels
compelled to note that this was not a classic case of "the lady or the
tiger." The tiger won. And he had a rather large meal! And who said "there's
no free lunch at PBS!"
