Mitch,

You are blasting in here this evening!
Did you change anything?

Yes - was transmitting with the loop for over a week - and just nothing
being recorded by anybody. I have complementary-symmetry amp in
the shack - driving 75-80 feet of coax to the loop feed point.
The other ( exactly same ) amplifier is at the loop feed point.
I just couldn't get any resonance and not even power indicated at
the loop. Couldn't hear it across town.
Tore it all apart yesterday - re-assembled the loop wires as a 40 ft
vertical, feeding the loop horizontal top part section as a flat-top.
Big ( NC type ) coil out of cold storage (-20 tonight ! ) and
spent the afternoon finding resonance, adjusting taps, etc.

Now I have found that the NPN-PNP transistors in the "in-house- amp
were fried - so hot that the plastic box was hot to the touch.
Vacuum tubes used to glow like that in the winter - it was very nice !
So everything on the bench again.

Had a little test rig I had used years ago - and fired it up.
Lots of rf with it and will use until I repair the driver and amp .

So something fried the amplifiers I had been using - and it certainly
wasn't the fault of the loop - but the loop is in an inverted L
configuration at present, and I will leave for the time being -
until a nice day when I can re-configure the loop again.

Your capture screens are invaluable - during the afternoon I could
tune and change taps and watch the results 300 miles away - C O O L !
