[Lowfer] TMO Tune-up

My loop and vertical transmit about the same distance and signal level off
at 45-degrees from the loops main lobes. The vertical beats the loop at
90-degrees from the lobes. I haven't had anyone north or south to give me a
skywave report. Lyle says the vertical is 6db down from the loop at 75 miles
north of me. The loop radiates in a North/South pattern. 70' oak trees
surround both antennas. The vertical has over 3000' of radials under it that
are cut for 160 meters and a few for 75 meters. The loading coil is a LEK
design and Lyle built basket weave pattern. I hope to have another exciter
built before winter ends so I can run both the vertical and the loop at
slightly different freqs.

I hope usez boyez are tabulating the relative effectiveness of the loop
over vertical
at least the ones that have both, and I would think that relative
distance copied over the
winter season of the loops/verts could be informing as well. Distance for
copy is
dependent on location as well as antenna type but overall some sort of
pattern should be forming

I havent been posting much comments on what I am seeing this year. I am
finding my TS 756
has developed a bit of drift so it is hard to do much over 30 second
setting, and then at that setting I
sometimes get sea sick. But for most evening runs I usually see from 3 to
the 6 pack. The problem now, however
is determining the correct frequency with the drift problem. I doubt
Yeasu will consider a 2/3 cycle drift a problem
