I use a device I got at Radio Shack that works for me. It is an in-line
volume control that is intended for controling the volume to headphones from
CD players, etc. It is a cord about 3 feet long with a small volume control.
I don't know what the input and output impedences are but it works good,
looks better than anything I can build myself and was sitting in the little
junque box.
