Larry:
Getting pretty frustrated here trying to receive. De-sensing of receiver
below 1 MHz..... about 15-20 dB. HF ( 3-30MHz) fine.
I think I have probably cooked something in the 100 kHZ - 1 MHz
section of the receiver. When using this range, no preamp is available, so
it is obviously switched automatically.
Going to order the service manual today from Drake.
I guesstimate that I have cooked an FET or IC associated with that
section of the input filters, but without a circuit I don't want to
proceed at present.
By adding an outboard preamp ( Lyle's of course ) I can bring the
sensitivity back to normal in this frequency range.
Guess I'll keep transmitting for awhile yet !
Maybe it's the 70 watts - across the yard - and the receiving antennas
within 50 feet.... hmmmmmmmmmmm !
