Re: Guys To Secure A LF Vertical Mast

Lyle rightly brings up concerns about securing the vertical mast w/
weed-line. Good point. I've tried to knot it and gave up thinking the
usual knots I know of don't work. And any compression-type device may
fatigue the line by cutting into it. So the light poly-type cords may be
it.

Another thought. Attaching anything to the masting can compromise its
integrity (meaning cause it to break/crack) if using holes or clamps.
But there is another way to attach guys, using a yoke ring. The larger
pvc pipes that I've seen have a flared end to facilitate joining. I
piece of plywood or Al could be fashioned to bind at such an protrusion
in the pipe mast. Ha, in fact it's the way I made a 12-foot mast for my
6-foot loop. Takes a little work. I painted the plywood w/ latex for
weather proofing. Light Nylon cord attaches to it and runs out to ground
stakes.
