[Lowfer] rx setup

Got it! IT does help. I've been seeing just that: when receiving my
medfer on my bcb am radio, I tune it until I hear a nice tone -- argo
reports about 900 Hz.

That all makes perfect sense -- when I get a synthesized receiver next
month I'll be able to do as you told me.

THE BOTTOM LINE: I didn't realize that the frequency of the audio tone I
was hearing was the difference between the frequency of the carrier and
the frequency of my tuner!

SO now I know ... I think I'm all set! I just need a real receiver and
not this 60's model tube rig I have...

By the way, I have been setting money back for a decent xceiver. Lyle
mentioned that with cigarettes being $30 a carton (is that right? WOW!) a
$500 radio is a bargain. He's right, and my goal is to take about $600
with me to the hamfest in March.

Should be easy: I don't have cable TV, for example, and that is about
$50/month. Considering I've been married 10 years, or 120 months, all
with no cable -- I've saved about $6000!

I should just take that 6 grand to the hamfest with me, huh? :)

Regards,
Eric
