Thanks John - in particular for the frequency check. Now I can calibrate my
ARGO ! Colorful QSL will be on the way.
I am amazed at the range on 137 - I was expecting much more absorption and
noise and Loran problems.
 
Presently using a three transistor rig, built on a pine board with bakelite
panel ( just for the fun of it ! ).

It would be interesting to rig up some sort of power stepping, such as
the DX beacons on 14.100 - like 100W - 10W - 1 watt.

I am in the process of winding another hi-Q inductor for the vertical
section - 3 mH at base and 0.5 mH at the peak / junction.
