I recently tried to populate my new laptop with my favorite freeware 
programs, and found that most of them were now payware. These included 
ws-ftp, ws-ping, winzip, cool edit (and others).

Sure wish I had KEPT old versions in my archives, most of the programs 
today can't be used unless they are installed. So, without the complete 
installation program, they can't be used on my new punchbox:>:

I did save the cool edit 2000 archive though. Not sure if it will run under 
XP, but I'll find out soon.

I hope others can learn from my errors, the short version being that we 
should packrat those older programs away for later use....just in case.

I had a really interesting first time (serious use) for ARGO over the 
Christmas break with the family, I'll write the details later.
