I dabbled with the code. I started porting the "important parts" to perl but
never quite got it working.

I got around the QRSS issues you raise by using a macro program. These are
available all around but I think I got mine from download.com.

I "recorded" the key clicks needed to send my ID using the PTT button the
edited the resultant script so the inter-mouse-click times were appropriate
for the QRSS speed I wanted. The CW *was* QRSS but the signal walked a lot
in frequency.
