So this is the soft copper in a roll??? If so then how easy was it to
straighten it all out??? Do you think I could pull it over the trees with my
#12 wire???
Thanks,
Mike>WE0H

Subject: [Lowfer] WA sending N/S for a change
I just purchased 200ft of 3/8" refrigeration tubing and installed it in
close proximity to the old N/S location. Very easy to pull this tubing over
over the top using the shielded cable that I installed the previous day. The
numbers are looking real good: Rac = .44 ohms compared to .37 ohms for the
.63" diam pipe loop and .60 ohms for RG-8. The previous shielded cable was
approx .35" diam (without jacket) and figured to to be close to the RG-8
performance - but in fact it read a lousy .88 ohms! These numbers indicate
the soil is in a fully dry condition and relate closely with those in the
third column of Table 2 of my second loop article.
The price of the 3/8" tubing was $20/50ft at Home Depot which amounts to
less than half the new price for high quality RG-8. The performance is also
better, as well. Total weight is 25 lbs for 200ft.
