Eric,

Sorry for the missread. I'm still mulling, however, the fact that our 30k
of bandwidth is vastly underused and the benfits of having maybe 10 times
the number of Lowfers that we have now. I'm always encouraged when I read
about one of us speaking Lowfertalk to a group of local Hams, but we still
haven't picked up as many newbies as I would have expected - particularly
since ARGO and QRSS sending have allowed for greatly expanded range - and TX
loops with their simplicity and application to 'impossible' woods
environments.

What do you all think are the reasons for the lack of US-wide interest in
Lowfering? Same reasons as the dwindling Ham population? Wonder if we are
preaching to the wrong crowd? There may be ways to inspire the non-Ham
and/or younger generation to try this out. I'll ask the younger, technically
oriented, guys here at work just to get a 'feel' if they or their friends
(kids?) might have some interest - and what it would take for them to make
that first step. Possibly having available beacon and/or receiver
bare-boards; kits? Articles in the non-Ham Electronic publications? Could
be, however, as Les wisely stated some time ago: "Be careful what you wish
for" (the implication is that the opposite side of the coin is
overpopulation of the band - completely messing up what we have now).

Thoughts?

Bill A
