[Lowfer] NC Booming in on ground wave

One thought regarding receiving loops...

I would think that the area immediately around the antenna should be free of
anything in the plane of the loop that could be considered a "shorted turn."
If you have to avoid that by elevating the antenna, then I think it's the
distance, rather than the height that's important.

Based on Dale's description of now being able to copy NC in the daytime, I'd
say that's something he should have been able to do all along. In the
summer, my wimpy TAG is QRSS3 copy at 140 miles in the daytime, and Bill's
WA provides CW copy at 100 miles, both received on a ground-mounted 4 foot
diameter loop. Dex's NC should perform as well as, if not better than WA
(ducking really low, here). So I suspect that Dale has solved a local
problem by elevating the antenna.

Thoughts? Rebuttals?
